Justin Rose claimed his first Major Championship victory at the US Open Championship at Merion moving up 2 places in the Official World Golf Ranking to 3rd, equalling his career high. The Englishman closed with a 70 giving him a one over par total and enough to finish two clear of Jason Day and Phil Mickelson. Day climbs 10 positions to World Number 16 and Mickelson 4 positions to World Number 6. Japan's Hideki Matsuyama closed with a 67 and his tied 10th finish sees him enter the World Top 50 in 49th position.
World Number One TIGER WOODS won the Players Championship, his fourth win of 2013, he is now in his 636th week as World Number One.
